Bring Your Dog to Work Everyday

Bring your Dog at office

Both you and your pup dream about always being together 24/7. You work from a dog-friendly office space, and you’ve considered bringing your dog along. But are they ready? Although the workplace may be mellow and relatively boring, that may not be the case for your pet. Here are some tips on how to successfully bring your dog to work.

-Make Your Office Feel Like Home

Dogs can feel a lot of anxiety or excitement when they’re in a new environment. To neutralize these emotions, set out to create a safe environment. Get a nice comfy nap-worthy bed/crate. This will not only allow the dog to relax. It also acts as a home base when you run to the restroom or leave the space for a minute. Don’t forget to bring their toys and tasty treats! Some other essentials include a water bowl and poo bags.

-Socialize Your Dog

Dogs are curious. When bringing your dog to work for the first time, treat them like you would any guest. Give them a tour of the space. Let them get their sniffs in. This will help them get familiar with the space. Introduce your furry friend to the other office tenants. Tail wags and belly rubs foster new friendships between your dog and coworkers. Be sure to reward your pup with a treat after the tour and introductions.

-Have A Potty Break Schedule

In order to avoid any embarrassing accidents, take your pup out to potty before work and during lunch. Setting a routine for your dog is essential to success. It also helps to have an enzymatic cleaner in your office in case any accidents do happen.

-Work Can Be Stressful

Dogs have many tells when they get overwhelmed, overstimulated, or stressed. This can manifest in crying, whining, barking, constant circling around the room, or their tail curled between their legs. Be on the lookout for signs of stress. Start small by bringing your pup to work for a couple of hours, then transition into a full day. Consider going on a run or walk in the morning so your pup isn’t full of energy throughout the day.
