Frequently Asked Questions

Membership

What is included in a Union membership?

Everything your workspace needs. High-speed WiFi, coffee and tea, printing and scanning, conference room hours, 24/7 secure access, bike racks, phone booths, community events, business builder resources, and neighborhood partnership discounts. No hidden fees, no surprise charges. Optional add-ons are available if you want extras — but your core membership covers everything you need to do great work. Private Office and Dedicated Desk memberships also include access to all five California locations.

Can I use all five Union locations with one membership?

Private Office and Dedicated Desk memberships include access to all five California locations: Encinitas, San Marcos, North Park, Los Angeles, and Glendora. No day rates, no advance booking required for drop-ins. Flex Desk memberships are tied to your home location.

What are the commitment terms?

We offer month-to-month memberships. No long-term lease required. Come see a space, decide it is right for you, and get started. If you have questions about longer commitments or team plans, book a tour and we will walk you through the options.

Do you offer day passes or drop-in rates?

Day passes are available at most locations. The best way to experience Union before committing to a membership is to book a tour: we'll show you around, introduce you to the community, and often let you try the space for a day. Reach out to the location directly to ask.

Do you offer virtual memberships or mailbox-only plans?

We offer business address and mail handling services at select locations. Contact the location you are interested in for current availability and pricing.

The Space

How does 24/7 access work?

All Union members receive secure key fob or app-based access to their location. Community Managers are on-site Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm. Outside those hours, the space is yours. Come in early, stay late, use it on weekends: the access is built into every membership.

Can I bring guests or clients?

Yes. Members can bring guests for meetings and working sessions. We want your clients and collaborators to feel welcome here. Check with your location for the specific guest policy, as it varies slightly by location and membership tier.

How do I book a conference room?

Conference room hours are included in every membership tier. Booking is handled through the member portal. If you need more hours than your plan includes, additional time can be added at the location.

Do you have private spaces for phone calls?

Yes. All Union locations have phone booths: private, soundproofed spaces for calls, video meetings, and focused solo work. They are available first-come at no additional charge.

Is parking available?

Parking availability varies by location. Encinitas, San Marcos, North Park, and Glendora all have parking nearby. Los Angeles is in the Arts District with street parking and nearby lots. We also have bike racks at every location. Ask your specific location for the current parking situation.

Getting Started

How do I book a tour?

Visit our Book a Tour page to select your location and schedule time with a community manager. Tours are free and take about 20 to 30 minutes. We will show you the space, introduce you to whoever is around, and answer every question you have. Coffee is always on.

Which membership tier is right for me?

It depends on how you work. The Flex Desk is great for remote workers who want flexibility and community without a reserved spot. The Dedicated Desk is for people who want consistency: your spot, your setup, every day. Private Offices are for small teams or anyone who needs a door. Not sure? Book a tour and we will help you figure it out.

Can my whole team join Union?

Yes. We accommodate teams of varying sizes depending on the location. Private offices can house small teams, and we can often work out custom arrangements for larger groups. Reach out to the location you are interested in to talk through team options.

About Union

How long has Union Cowork been around?

Union was founded in 2012 in North Park, San Diego. We have been running neighborhood-first coworking spaces in California for over 13 years. Stephanie Lawrence, Owner and CEO, has led Union through its growth to five locations across San Diego and Los Angeles.

Why are all five locations in California?

Intentionally. Union was built around specific neighborhoods and the communities that already live in them. Going wide means losing what makes us different. We choose to go deep: better spaces, stronger communities, in neighborhoods that deserve it. California first, always.

Do you have community events open to the public?

Yes. The Break Club surf meetups in Encinitas and the North City Run Club in San Marcos are both open to anyone, no membership required. Our Neighborhood Connector events also welcome the wider community. Follow us on Instagram @unioncowork for the latest announcements.
